Dear family,

Jamestown has recently run out of food and supplies. The Native Americans think that we are taking over and forcing them out of thier own land. They have decided to retaliate by kidnapping some of our men in exchange for money. The only problem is that we don't have any money to trade with them. Most of the people here have even resorted to eating rats, mice, and house pets. Hopefully things will get better from here.

Love,
Rebecca

The women were traded for 150 pounds of tobacco. The colonist were willing to pay that much because they needed their economy to grow. I think after the women arrived, the colony did grow and after that it made it easier and easier for it to grow. The more population the colony had the more work the colonists could do and the more they could trade.
